    About

    Ayy, waz de scene. I'm Sanjeev, the creator and writer behind Doubles an' Tingz, a food blog sharing authentic cuisine from the islands of Trinidad and Tobago. I also work full time in retail luxury management.

    I started Doubles an' Tingz as a way to share and explore my culture and heritage as a part of the Indian diaspora with rich history in Trinidad and Tobago. I was raised by an amazing woman and surrounded by women that made every home cooked meal special. All of our gatherings are centered around good food, free-flowing drinks, and dancing.

    I hope Doubles an' Tingz brings you inspiration and the good vibes behind Trini cuisine and island culture.

    About Sanjeev

    I am a proud Indo-Carribbean, first generation Trini-American. I was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, where my family were brought as indentured laborers from India by the British Empire in the late 1800s.

    I moved to New Jersey when I was 13 years old, where I currently reside, but I still travel to Trinidad to visit my family and other relatives. I learned to cook with my mother, Shalinee, who passed down several authentic Trini recipes and makes the best curry chicken and buss up shut.

    Shalinee Rampersad

    Mom, aka de boss

    Shalinee, is de boss behind Doubles an' Tingz... and Sanjeev! All the recipes found here were created under her expert guidance. Her recipes are famous within her circles and she throws a killer party!

    She was born in Trinidad and Tobago. Shalinee currently resides in New Jersey and is the mother of 3 kids, a grandmother, a wife, and a cat mom to 3 kitties.

    Shweta Garg

    Recipe Development Assistant & Photographer

    Shweta is the recipe developer and photographer behind Doubles and Tingz. She works closely with Sanjeev and Shalinee to test recipes measured by the ancestors to ensure they are comprehensive to follow in every kitchen.

    You may know Shweta as the creator of Masala and Chai, a blog showcasing approachable homemade Indian recipes and the culture, techniques, and ingredients to make them authentically.
